Day one Bundaberg to Emerald

About to leave, camper loaded, car packed

Left Bundaberg bright and early today to start our big adventure! Note the blue sky at 6.30 am, which contrasts to the rain in Emerald that started about 20 mins after we arrived and has continued for the last 6 hours. Alison, my sister in Tennant Creek, may get her wish that we return their wet season. I just hope that we are not delivering it personally.
Highlight of the 640km trip was stopping regularly to watch the roadworkers, roadworking and to ponder why a traffic light controlled stretch of roadworks still needed a person to push a button to change the light from red to green. At the rate of roadworks we had today, we may reach the NT border around the end of April. Hopefully tomorrow will bring open roads and no little men with a stop/ slow sign.
So tomorrow it is off the Longreach, further west in Qld than I have ever been.  Cheers to Neil and Cathy for our last night of a bed in a house and TV for a few weeks and especially to Cathy for the awesome session of Bowen therapy which now means I can turn my head to reverse the car!
Till tomorrow.
E and S
